Gap analysis is used to assess the difference or "gap" between a current state and a desired future state within your organization. It involves comparing the existing processes, performance, capabilities, or other relevant factors against a target or benchmark to identify areas of improvement and develop action plans.

Here's an overview of how gap analysis is performed:

  1. Identify the Current State
PTG will gather relevant information about your organization's current processes, performance, systems, resources, and other factors related to the area being analyzed

  2. Define the Desired Future State
PTG will work with your organization's stakeholders to establish clear objectives, goals, or benchmarks that the organization aims to achieve. The desired future state should align with the organization's strategic vision and objectives

  3. Analyze the Gap
By comparing the current state with the desired future state, PTG identifies the gaps or discrepancies that exist. This could involve examining performance metrics, process inefficiencies, resource gaps, technology limitations, skill deficiencies, or any other factors that hinder progress towards the desired state

  4. Determine Root Causes
PTG will investigate the underlying causes of the identified gaps. This may involve analyzing data, conducting interviews, performing process assessments, or using other diagnostic techniques to understand the factors contributing to the gaps

  5. Develop Action Plans
Based on the analysis of the gaps and their root causes, PTG collaborates with your organization's stakeholders to develop actionable recommendations and strategies to bridge the gaps. These action plans may include process improvements, organizational changes, technology implementations, training programs, or other initiatives aimed at closing the gap

  6. Implement and Monitor Progress
Once the action plans are developed, PTG assists the organization in implementing the recommended changes. Regular monitoring and measurement of progress are conducted to ensure that the desired outcomes are being achieved and to make any necessary adjustments to the action plans

Gap analysis helps your organization identify areas for improvement, prioritize initiatives, and allocate resources effectively. It provides a structured approach to bridge the gap between the current state and the desired future state, enabling organizations to enhance performance, streamline processes, optimize resource utilization, and achieve their strategic objectives.
